For week 2 of the Exalted Art Challenge, enjoy a look at my entry for “Food in Creation”, as well as some homebrew & art entries from the community.
Week Topic 2 – Food in Creation, Plentimon’s Day Cakes
For 2022’s Exalted Art Challenge, I only had time to quickly scribble a concept sketch for Plentimon’s Day Cakes. This year, I took that concept a step further!
The text reads:
“Each dice- themed cake contains a mystery flavor. The cake with the prize inside gives the eater good luck in games for the next year! Served atop a bed of chocolate coins.”
A few process WIPs:
Plentimon’s Day came up a few times in the pages of The Uncrucified during my Eclipse Caste, Kalara’s, childhood in Gem. The Plentimon is a very active god in Creation who personally enjoys playing games far and wide. Every year, he visits Gem, which is famous for its festival days and gambling culture. For Plentimon’s Day which celebrates the Plentimon’s annual visit to the city, Gem welcomes the Plentimon to a private underground gambling palace where the real party takes place amongst the high stakes games.
I imagine the lower classes get to partake with baked goods and a parade of the Plentimon through town where they throw riches from horseback, much like Mardi Gras, which has King Cakes and a rambunctious parade where participants throw beads to the crowd. Anyone who finds the baby figurine inside of their piece of King Cake wins good luck and prosperity, much like Plentimon’s Cakes.
I couldn’t resist working in a little Plentimon’s Ladybug as well because I found their entry in the Hundred Devil’s book absolutely charming.

Quick update to my first entry. I made it to color flats on this one and had to share! I hope to finish this one after the challenge because I love how it’s coming out.

I’m especially fond of the Solar charm that allows a user to discern the mental state of the chef who created the food they are tasting and learn their intimacies. There’s some really flavorful (hah) charms here, so go check this entry out. I’m always happy to see more writers jumping into the Challenge!
